The No6 in the scheme Lucie Safarova has been eliminated in the first round of the Open Championship of the United States. She became the fourth tennis player from the top 10, which finished earlier her participation in the tournament after Ana Ivanovic, Karolina Pliskova and Carla Suarez Navarro.
The Czech left-handed lost by the Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko with 4:6, 1:6 after a little more than one hour. Safarova beat the same opponent a few days before in the tournament in New Haven, but today she made many mistakes. The finalist of "Roland Garros" achieved only 10 winning hits against 33 unforced errors, while the balance of Tsurenko is 12-15.
The second placed Simona Halep won over Marina Erakovic from New Zealand with 6:2, 3:0 after only 47 minutes and walk over of her rival, because of injury.
The Romanian made four breaks and left Erakovic without a single break point. The next opponent of Halep will be decided in the match by live scores between Kateryna Bondarenko and Yulia Putintseva.
