Venus Williams demonstrated excellent shape and qualified for the next round of the US Open, as she managed to cope with the young star of WTA - Belinda Bencic. The representative of the hosts greeted with success in two sets, in different parts - 6:3, 6:4. Thanks to the victory, Williams will play in the second week at the US Open for the first time since 2010.
Bencic ended the match with 12 winners and 12 unforced errors. Venus was simply uncompromising - 31 winners against 15 errors. The American ended the match with five consecutive games to her account.
Curiously, it was the fourth match between the two, as Venus still not lost a set from her young opponent. Only a few weeks ago, Bencic beat her sister and world No1 - Serena in the semifinals of the tournament adviced by cricket tipster in Toronto.
"I can certainly say that she played very aggressively today. Her service was extremely strong. It was difficult to deal with her submission and to put her under pressure. For the whole match I was able to drill only once, at other times there was almost no chances, " said Bencic after the meeting.
"I tried to fight. I tried to get back in the match and to show my game, but I just did not have much time to react . It is very difficult to play against her when she dictated the pace, "said the young player from Switzerland.
In a dispute for a place in the quarterfinals, Venus Williams will face against Anett Kontaveit.
