The pajamas of Kirali enters the history

Football fans remember him from the mid-1990s because of his wide grey tracksuit jogging track, which became known on the European terrain. Gabor Kirali did not have a remarkable career in big teams on the continent, but for Hungary, he is a true legend. Today the goalkeeper will play his game no 104 for the national team, wearing his famous pajamas. That is how everyone calls his trousers. The derby, except the return of Hungary after a 30-year absence from the big stage, is also very significant for Kirali. He broke the record of Lothar Matthaus for the oldest player at the European finals. Today he is just at the age of 40 years, 2 months and 14 days, and the former record holder Matthaus was 39 years and 91 days, when he played at the Euro 2000. The thing that attracts the most attention in Kirali, however, undoubtedly is his choice of a team. Since 1997, the goalkeeper has been always with grey bottoms of the jumpsuit. \'I tried to wear shorts while I was in Germany, but I\'m not comfortable.\' \'In the end, the result is more important than appearance. I\'m not a top model but a goalkeeper, and my job is to protect our door. I play on hard pitches, and this causes my wounds. I always take the same size top to feel comfortable when I move.\', Kirali explains. The media in Hungary see the seasoned goalie as the key figure in the team, and specialists rely much on him. Except for Kirali, the Magyars have also two players with a lot of matches behind their backs - the 37-year-old Zoltan Gera and the captain Balázs. Others, however, have never played in such big games.
