Carla Suarez Navarro defeated dramatically with 6:7 (2), 7:5, 7:6 (7) Eugenie Bouchard and qualified for the quarter finals of the strong mixed tournament on red clay courts in Rome. The match between the both offered a bunch of emotions and ended with a success for the Spaniard after 3 hours and 6 minutes battle.
The drama was huge in the decisive tie break in the third set, where Suarez Navarro leaded with 6:2 points, but missed four consecutive match points to Bouchard`s turn to reach a match point. It happened at 7:6 points for the Canadian, as she had early blow to her side. Bouchard did let a mini break and to the end of the match failed to win a point.
With the victory today Carla Suarez Navarro qualified for the quarter finals on the 10th tournament of the season. After the Australian Open Eugenie Bouchard has played only 11 matches, in 8 of which recorded a loss.
In contention for a place on the semifinal Carla Suarez Navarro will face Petra Kvitova.
